Victor Boniface was in attendance to watch two of his former sides, Union Saint-Gilloise and FK Bodø/Glimt, square up against each other on matchday two of the UEFA Europa League at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Thursday evening.
The Super Eagles forward played for Bodø/Glimt between 2019 and 2022, having joined the Norwegian side from Real Sapphire.
He suffered a serious injury in his first season but overcame his fitness woes to make 66 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing eight assists.
The Nigerian striker moved to Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2022 but he spent just one season with the Belgian side, scoring 17 goals and notching 12 assists in 51 all-competition appearances before joining Bayer Leverkusen the following summer.
He scored six goals in the UEFA Europa League in the 2022/2023 campaign, finishing as the top scorer in the competition alongside Marcus Rashford
With Bayer Leverkusen not in action till Saturday, Boniface chose to spend his leisure time watching his two former sides clash with each other.
The Nigeria international was asked by Union Saint-Gilloise media who he was backing before the game, but he remained neutral and refrained from picking a team.
The 23-year-old bagged his first Champions League goal on Tuesday, netting the game-winning goal in Bayer Leverkusen's 1-0 win over AC Milan at the BayArena.
