'I'm very upset' - Porto's Omorodion disappointed despite scoring a brace in 6-goal thriller v Man Utd
Published: October 04, 2024
Samu Omorodion has expressed his disappointment despite bagging a brace in FC Porto's exciting 3-3 draw with Manchester United in a UEFA Europa League clash at Estádio do Dragão on Thursday night.
Marcus Rashford gave the Red Devils the lead in the 7th minute with a fine strike before Rasmus Højlund doubled their lead in the 20th minute of the game.
Seven minutes after Højlund's strike, Pepê halved the deficit for Porto and Omorodion completed the turnaround in the 34th minute, heading the ball home from João Mario's cross.
The Spanish-Nigerian striker then gave the Portuguese side the lead five minutes into the second half, rifling the ball past Andre Onana after receiving a pass from Pepê.
A bullet header from Harry Maguire in stoppage time ensured that Omorodion didn't grab the match-winning goal for the home side.
Speaking after the game, the 20-year-old expressed his disappointment with the result despite bagging a brace
"We left upset, as the team reacted well after losing 0-2. I’m very upset, but we have to keep working to win the next games," Omorodion told the official website of Porto.
"After the two goals conceded, we knew how to react and turned things around, but we were punished for a set piece. Still, I’m proud of the team’s work.”
"I feel very good, but today I leave here sad about the draw."
Omorodion has been in a rich vein of form since joining Porto, failing to score in just one game that he has played for the Portuguese giants and has now netted in five consecutive matches.
The talented striker has seven goals in six outings for Porto despite starting just four times.
