Arsenal and Middlesbrough's Nigerian starlets battle Chelsea midfielder, 5 others for Premier League award
Published: November 01, 2024
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji is in contention to win his second Premier League 2 Player of the Month this campaign.
The 21-year-old has been nominated for October Player of the Month alongside another Nigeria-eligible winger Hazeem Bakre, Chelsea's Kiano Dyer and Sunderland midfielder Harrison Jones.
Also nominated were Manchester City forward forward Emilio Lawrence, Brighton & Hove's Caylan Vickers, Reading winger Jeremiah Okine-Peters and Sunderland goalkeeper Daniel Cameron.
Butler-Oyedeji featured in just one game, which was the 4-3 win over Blackburn Rovers, as he was involved with the first team, and he made his mark, bagging a hat-trick of assists in the contest.
The 21-year-old was the recipient of the award in August when he registered four goals and three assists in three outings.
Similarly, Bakre also scored a hat-trick in Middlesbrough's 4-3 win over Aston Villa to merit a place in the list of players nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month.
The 19-year-old forward has started all but one game for Boro's development side this term and has registered five goals in the Premier League 2.
For the other nominees, Cameron kept two clean sheets for Sunderland in the two games played in the month; Dyer bagged two assists for Chelsea, while Jones notched three assists for Sunderland to merit his nomination.
Lawrence was also at his best for Manchester City, scoring a goal and delivering two assists; Okine-Peters was in magnificent goalscoring form, netting four times for Reading, while Vickers scored three and assisted twice.
