Cole Palmer beats George, Madueke, 6 others to win Chelsea's Goal of the Month
Published: November 05, 2024Talented England youth international of Nigerian descent, Tyrique George has missed out on Chelsea's Goal of the Month award for October.
Chelsea, through the club's official website, confirmed on Tuesday morning that Cole Palmer has scooped the Goal of the Month accolade for his stunning left-footed strike in the Premier League win over Newcastle United.
Palmer saw off competition from George, cap-tied England international of Nigerian descent Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, Mayra Ramirez, Maika Hamano, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Harvey Vale and Nicolas Jackson to win the monthly accolade.
George had been in the running for the award for his strike against Fulham in the Premier League 2.
After assisting Donnell McNeilly to open the scoring, George turned from provider to scorer in the 57th minute when he jinked his way into the box, skipped past his marker before firing into the far corner.
George has carved out a reputation for scoring spectacular goals, with five of his strikes last season nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month.
The Blues have high hopes for the English-Nigerian teenager, tying him up to a new deal in the off season, until June 30, 2027, with a club option for the 2027-2028 season.
George made his senior debut for Chelsea in a Conference League qualifying fixture against Servette FC in August, and has also debuted in the Conference League and Carabao Cup this term.
