'Victor is good at aerial balls' - Galatasaray's Batshuayi claims he's better than Osimhen in a key area
Published: November 23, 2024
Belgian international Michy Batshuayi has claimed that he possesses better technical skills than Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
The former Chelsea forward made the assertion on the heels of his crucial performance in Galatasaray's 1-0 victory over Bodrum at Grey Beton Bodrum Stadyumu on Saturday.
Batshuayi netted the winning goal in the 54th minute, heading home a cross from Dries Mertens into the penalty area.
This goal marks Batshuayi's sixth goal of the season for Galatasaray in 18 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen, who played the full 90 minutes but did not find the back of the net, has made an impressive impact with eight goals and four assists in just ten appearances across all competitions.
In his post-match interview, Batshuayi highlighted his ability to adapt and play as a double striker alongside Osimhen.
"Of course, I can play as a double forward or as a single forward," he was quoted as saying by Galatasaray's official website.
He further praised Osimhen's abilities, particularly his strength in aerial duels and long balls.
"But when we look at it, Victor is good at long and aerial balls. I can also make deep runs."
The 31-year-old forward claimed that his technical abilities are better than Osimhen's.
"I am technically better from my perspective. Of course, when you look at this, the coach's choice is important. We actually offer the coach the necessary options."
With this victory, Galatasaray sits atop the Super Lig standings with 34 points, having secured eleven wins and one draw from 12 matches.
In contrast, Bodrum finds itself struggling at sixteenth place with just eleven points from thirteen games.
As the season progresses, Osimhen and Batshuayi will look to continue their contributions to the success of Galatasaray.
