'One of the top 5 strikers in the world' - Ex-Galatasaray star insists Osimhen is too good for Super Lig
Published: December 07, 2024
Former Galatasaray forward Burak Yılmaz believes that Victor Osimhen's physicality makes him superior to the other players in the Trendyol Süper Lig.
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form since making his debut for Galatasaray and has been a cynosure of all eyes for his performances.
The Super Eagles striker quickly hit the ground running, registering two goals and two assists in his first three appearances for the Lion in the Turkish top-flight
By doing so, he became the first player to register at least three goal involvements in his first three games for Galatasaray since Bafetimbi Gomis did same for the club in 2017.
He has not looked back since then and has either scored or registered in all but two games across all competitions.
He did not register a goal involvement in the Süper Lig clash with Bodrum FK and the entertaining 4-3 win over Elfsborg in the UEFA Europa League.
One contributory factor to Osimhen's blistering start to life with Galatasaray is his physicality which has been difficult to handle for defenders in the Turkish top-flight.
Speaking to TRT Spor via haber sari kirmizi, Yılmaz stated that Osimhen's physicality makes him a player whose level is beyond the Süper Lig.
“If we ask any Galatasaray fan, you will see that the Europa League does not make them happy. Galatasaray is a Champions League team, this is what distinguishes Galatasaray," he said.
"Victor Osimhen is a very high-level football player with his athletic structure and physical genetics. He is a European center forward and one of the top 5-6 center forwards in the world.
"There are many top-level teams following Osimhen closely. Victor Osimhen is currently a player above the Turkish League in terms of physical appearance, he should not be harmed."
The Nigeria international is set to make his 13th appearance for Galatasaray when they face Sivasspor at the New Sivas 4 Eylül Stadium tomorrow.
