'Broken promises' - Former Inter Milan striker calls Lookman's blocked transfer 'an injustice'
Published: October 16, 2025
Former Inter Milan striker Nicola Ventola has voiced his opinion on Ademola Lookman’s failure to join Inter Milan during the summer transfer window, describing the situation as an 'injustice'.
Speaking to Viva el Futbol, Ventola suggested that the English winger suffered due to unfulfilled promises over the past two years.
"Personally, Lookman, in my opinion, is the one who suffered an injustice in the summer. After two years, there have been promises not fulfilled,” Ventola said, as quoted by FCInter1908.
The comments sparked a reaction from Italian pundit Lele Adani, who asked Ventola if his statement was a fact or merely a personal view.
Ventola clarified, saying, “Let’s say it’s my opinion, let’s say,” emphasizing that his remarks were subjective rather than an official statement on the club’s dealings.
Lookman, 27, had expressed a desire to leave Atalanta for Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.
Despite reportedly reaching a personal agreement with Inter, Atalanta rejected multiple bids, including a €45 million offer, citing a €50 million valuation for the player.
In response, Lookman handed in a transfer request and missed training sessions, accusing Atalanta of “broken promises” regarding his potential move.
Following the failed transfer, Lookman was reintegrated into Atalanta’s squad and has since made appearances in the Italian Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.
