Done deal: Napoli loan out Nigerian forward to Serie B Femminile club Freedom FC
Published: January 10, 2025
Italian Women's top-flight side Napoli have loaned out Nigerian forward Adugbe Olamide to Serie B Femminile outfit Freedom FC Women, as confirmed by the latter's official channels.
The Nigerian-born attacker joined Napoli in September 2024 from Rivers Angels, making six appearances in Serie A.
Olamide's move to Freedom FC Women is expected to boost the team's chances of climbing the Serie B standings.
Currently, the team sits eighth in the table with 19 points from 13 games. The addition of the young Nigerian forward, who is quite pacy and skillful, is anticipated to inject new life into the team's attack.
Rivers Angels, Olamide's former club, had announced her departure in September 2024, revealing that she would be joining Napoli on a one-year deal with options for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons.
However, after just six appearances in Serie A, Napoli has opted to send Olamide on loan to Freedom FC Women to gain more playing experience.
At Napoli, Olamide was allocated the number 17 jersey and expressed her delight at joining the Italian club.
She stated that she was committed to improving and hoped to achieve historic success with the team.
Although her stint at Napoli was brief, Olamide is expected to make a significant impact at Freedom FC Women.
Napoli, meanwhile, are struggling in Serie A, sitting ninth in the table with just six points from 13 games.
The team has lost nine games, with its only win coming against Sassuolo. By loaning out Olamide, Napoli may be giving the young forward the opportunity to develop her skills in a more competitive environment.
The young forward will wear the number 88 jersey at the Serie B club, as she will look to help them improve on their performances and amass regular minutes in the second half of this season
