Jesus, Saka, Nwaneri injuries: 17yo Annous takes part in Arsenal's final training session pre-Tottenham
Published: January 15, 2025
Arsenal are facing a crisis in attack before their blockbuster Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
Manager Mikel Arteta will not be able to count on the services of Gabriel Jesus and two players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri for the north London derby on Wednesday under the lights at the Emirates Stadium in London.
In last weekend’s FA Cup encounter with Manchester United, Jesus suffered an ACL injury, while Saka and Nwaneri are sidelined with hamstring and muscular issues respectively.
According to Gunners youth team insider Jeorge Bird, Arteta promoted teenage Nigerian forward Andre Harriman-Annous to first team training on Tuesday.
Although the striking role is Harriman-Annous' preferred position on the pitch, he can operate effectively on either flank.
The 17-year-old has been one of the standout players for Arsenal youth teams this season, scoring on his debuts in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy, FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League Cup.
Despite monitoring him on numerous occasions this season, Arteta has not given him a first-team opportunity.
Harriman-Annous has tallied eleven goals in all competitions so far this season, comprising five in the U18 Premier League, two in the U18 Premier League Cup, and one each in the EFL Trophy, UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup and Premier League 2.
The highly-rated striker has faced first-team opposition this season, playing the full match against MK Dons in the EFL Trophy.
