'He told me to come' - Sevilla's brand new signing Adams names the Super Eagles player behind transfer

Sevilla's brand new signing, Akor Adams, has expressed his delight at joining the Spanish club, revealing that compatriot Chidera Ejuke played a significant role in convincing him to make the move.

The 24-year-old striker, who has signed a contract until 2029, is eager to make his mark at the club and follow in the footsteps of Sevilla's legendary African players.

Adams' arrival at Sevilla marks a significant milestone in his career, which has been on an upward trajectory since his early days in Nigeria.

He has already made a name for himself in France, where he played for Montpellier HSC, despite tallying three goals and three assists in 15 appearances in Ligue 1 this season.

Adams moved to France followed a successful stint with Lillestrøm SK in Norway, where he netted 17 goals in just 17 matches, capturing attention across Europe and placing himself at the top of the European Golden Shoe standings.

"I've been watching the club a long time before I even had the dream of coming here," Adams said, expressing his admiration for Sevilla, in quotes relayed by the club's official website.

"Mostly the things they have done in Europe, they have conquered Europe basically. I've seen many of the finals.

"For me, it's a great club and a pleasure to be in such a club."

The Nigerian striker is eager to follow in the footsteps of Sevilla's legendary African players and make his own mark on the club's history.

"I think there's been a lot of history in the club, so I'm just here to play a part in that history and try to write my own," Adams said.

"They have made it easier for us to come through, and I want to write my own story with Sevilla as well."

Adams' move to Sevilla is a dream come true, and he is grateful for the warm welcome he has received.

"For me and my family, it is an early birthday present," Adams said, referring to his upcoming 25th birthday on Wednesday. "It's been a very warm welcome."

Adams also revealed that he had sought advice from fellow Nigerian Chidera Ejuke, who convinced him to join Sevilla.

"He told me just to come and that I would love it here," Adams said, quoting Ejuke's words of encouragement.

As the Super Eagles hopeful begins his new chapter with Sevilla, he will be teammates with Nigeria internationals Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho, although the latter has been linked with a departure from the club in the January transfer window.
