Solomon-Otabor: 2016 Birmingham City Young POTY departs CZ Mighty Lions for Al-Orooba
Published: February 07, 2025
Through official channels, United Arab Emirates Pro League club Al-Orooba have announced the signing of 2019 Super Eagles invitee Viv Solomon-Otabor.
The 2015-2016 Birmingham City Young Player of the Year has joined Al-Orooba as a free agent following his departure from Chinese club Cangzhou Mighty Lions.
Solomon-Otabor had spells with Hampton & Richmond Borough and Crystal Palace before joining Birmingham City, where he rose through the ranks to make his first team debut in a League Cup tie against Gillingham FC in August 2015.
The following month, the forward made his Championship debut off the bench against Nottingham Forest.
Overall, he appeared in 40 matches across all competitions and scored two goals before ending a seven-year association with Birmingham City in 2019.
During his days at Birmingham City, he took in loan spells at Oxford City, Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool and Portsmouth.
Apart from the aforementioned teams, Solomon-Otabor's other clubs include CSKA Sofia, Wigan Athletic, St Johnstone and Rukh Lviv.
He was handed a late call-up for a high-profile friendly against Brazil in October 2019, replacing Samuel Kalu, but was an unused substitute.
Solomon-Otabor netted six goals in 29 league appearances for Cangzhou Mighty Lions.
