17yo striker of Nigerian descent makes senior debut for Man Utd in loss to Tottenham Hotspur

Danish-born Nigerian center forward Chido Obi made his professional debut as Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening.
With United facing an injury crisis that sidelined Mason Mount, Lisandro Martínez, Luke Shaw, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer, manager Ruben Amorim named several academy players in the matchday squad, including Chido Obi.
There was a hint that the Danish-Nigerian wonderkid was in contention to be included in the traveling squad, having trained with the first team players before the trip to the English capital.
Wearing the number 56 on the back of his jersey, Obi made his senior debut in the closing minutes of the contest, coming off the bench to replace Casemiro in the 90th minute in what was Manchester United's only change.
The 17-year-old was in red-hot form in his last appearance for United's youth team, netting a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup to enhance his burgeoning reputation and take his tally for the season to 15 goals across all competitions.
James Maddison scored what proved to be game-winning goal in the 13th minute, slotting home the rebound after Andre Onana saved Lucas Bergvall's effort.
After twenty-five matches in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have climbed to twelfth with 30 points, one more than Manchester United, who are fifteenth.
