'We always say same things' - Ex-Besiktas star insists Galatasaray signings lagging behind Osimhen
Published: March 11, 2025
Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has showered praise on Victor Osimhen for his outstanding performances at Galatasaray this season, while criticizing fellow signings for not doing enough to support the Nigerian forward.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray from Napoli last summer, has been a key figure in the Yellow-Reds' attack, delivering consistent performances across all competitions.
The 26-year-old has contributed to 28 goals in 29 matches, scoring 23 times and providing five assists.
His form has been crucial in keeping Galatasaray on track to defend their Turkish Super Lig title.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi, Engin analyzed Galatasaray’s season and singled out Osimhen as the player carrying the team’s success.
"We always say the same things, but Victor Osimhen carries Galatasaray," Engin stated.
The former midfielder also criticized other signings, claiming they have not contributed as significantly as the Nigerian striker.
"Not all of the transfers Galatasaray made this season contribute as much as Osimhen. All of the other transfers contribute at a rate of 50%-60%."
Galatasaray made several high-profile signings in the summer and winter transfer windows, including Gabriel Sara and Álvaro Morata, but none have matched Osimhen’s impact.
Osimhen’s impressive form has reportedly attracted interest from several top European clubs ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s head coach Eric Chelle will be hoping the striker maintains his scoring form when the Super Eagles take on Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
With Nigeria currently struggling in Group C, Osimhen’s performances would be crucial in securing the victories needed to boost their chances of qualifying for the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
