'It's crunch time' - Tosin says Chelsea fighting for CL spot, Conference League trophy, Club World Cup
Published: April 26, 2025
Nigerian cenre-back Tosin Adarabioyo joined Chelsea last summer after turning down a new deal that would have made him one of the highest earners at Fulham.
The Manchester City academy graduate has quickly settled into life at Stamford Bridge, crediting the warm reception from his new teammates and staff.
With 33 appearances and four goals for Chelsea, Tosin is enjoying the best goalscoring season of his career since he became a professional.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website, the towering defender revealed how easy the transition has been.
"I knew people at the club already and everyone was very welcoming," Tosin said.
"When you’re a centre-half you’re required to be a leader, you need to impose yourself on the field and strikers that you come up against. With my build and my qualities, I’m able to do that."
The 27-year-old, who joined on a free transfer from Fulham, is eager to make an immediate impact as Chelsea push to finish in a Champions League spot and win the Conference League.
With the season reaching its climax, Tosin knows every moment counts.
"It’s crunch time. We’re fighting for that Champions League finish, and for the Conference League trophy.
"We also have the Club World Cup coming up in the summer, and that is something to fight for too. The boys are fully focused and motivated for all of it."
Tosin and another London-born player of Nigerian descent Tyrique George start on the bench as Chelsea face Everton in a lunchtime kickoff at Stamford Bridge.
