Confirmed: Spurs product Eyoma among three Nigerian defenders released by Northampton Town
Published: May 06, 2025
EFL League One club Northampton Town have published their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season.
The Cobblers have confirmed that three defenders of Nigerian descent will depart the club following the expiration of their contracts on June 30, 2025.
Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate Timothy Eyoma will be out of contract on July 1 and is set to begin a new chapter in his career next season.
A member of England's Fifa U17 World Cup-winning squad in 2017, Eyoma joined Northampton Town in November 2024 following the expiration of his contract with Lincoln City.
The versatile defender scored one goal in 27 matches across all competitions for Northampton Town.
He made one appearance for Spurs, against Tranmere Rovers in the third round of the FA Cup in January 2019, before leaving the club permanently in 2021.
Centre-back Akin Odimayo and left-back Ali Koiki will leave Northampton Town when their contracts ends on June 30 to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
Odimayo joined the Cobblers in July 2022 after spells with Reading, Hungerford Town, Waterford and Swindon Town, while Koiki turned out for Crystal Palace, Burnley, Swindon Town and Bristol Rovers prior to his move to Northampton Town in 2021.
While the central defender provided three assists in 98 matches for Northampton Town, Koiki played 93 matches and directly participated in six goals (2 goals, 4 assists).
