Official: Versatile Nigerian striker signs new contract with Birmingham City

Through the club's official website, Championship new boys Birmingham City have announced their new intake of first year scholars ahead of the upcoming season, with a Nigerian teenager part of the group.

Fifteen players have signed two-year scholarship deals with The Blues, including Nigerian forward Denzil Uchenna.

Uchenna and the fourteen other scholars were officially welcomed during an evening at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park, with family and friends in attendance.

Birmingham U16s lead coach Andy Crabtree, a key figure in the development of the young Blues, offered detailed profiles on each player.

He described Uchenna as a direct striker who offers versatility to threaten in behind with movement or receive into feet and link with others.

Uchenna is physically dominant and has a high work ethic both in and out of possession, making him a handful to defend against for opposition backlines.

Shea Birmingham, Nikoli Degtiarev, Noah Hoarau, Blake Campbell, Fynn Hawkeswood, Connor Reilly, Henry Pearsall, Jayden Nunes-Wickham, Taha Elmansuri, Lorenzo Greer, Isifu Jawara, Michael Campbell, Alex Ranson and Mordecai Jones have all signed scholarship deals.

The first year scholars have already travelled to Hungary in July for the Academy pre-season training camp based in Budapest
