Meet Youssouf Adamou: The Cameroonian midfielder hailed as 'Victor Osimhen's twin' in Turkiye

Youssouf Adamou, a 24-year-old Cameroonian footballer in Türkiye’s amateur leagues, has drawn widespread attention for his uncanny resemblance to Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with fans hailing him as the Nigerian's twin.

Adamou, who has lived in Türkiye for eight years and recently graduated from Anadolu University’s Faculty of Business Administration, plays for Batıkent Sports Club in the 1st Amateur League.

Adamou’s resemblance to the 26-year-old Nigerian forward goes beyond physical appearance.

He has styled his hair similarly to Osimhen and even wears a mask of the star striker, gifted by friends, when attending public events.

"They compare me a lot to Osimhen,” Adamou said, as quoted by Kocatepe Gazetesi.

"I think Osimhen and I are very similar. Our styles are somewhat similar; we play like me, but he’s a better scorer. I’m also good at building plays from the back.

"As they say, ‘Çanakkale is impassable,’ so I secure the goal to prevent goals. I also pass the ball forward."

Adamou acknowledged the attention he receives due to the resemblance, noting that fans frequently approach him in public.

"I get so much attention that I had to wear a hat on the tram. Kids keep stopping me and saying, ‘Osi brother, come on, let’s take a picture.’ I say my name is Youssouf, and they say, ‘You are Osimhen from Es-Es."

Despite the comparisons, Adamou is focused on his own football development. Playing as a midfielder, he describes himself as ‘the Osimhen of the midfield’ distinguishing his style from that of the Nigerian striker.

"I’m at the beginning of my career; I’m still playing in the amateur leagues. I want to get my citizenship, sort out my identity, and show myself in the higher leagues because I’m too good for the amateurs,” he said.

Adamou remains optimistic about a future meeting with Osimhen.

"I’d love to team up with him one day. We’ll inevitably run into each other, I believe in that.

"Either in Istanbul or Eskişehir, but within these borders, Osimhen and I will inevitably meet somehow.

"I’m Cameroonian, he’s Nigerian. We’re actually neighbors, let’s say we’re neighbors."
