Goal and assist for Iwobi in 98 seconds as Fulham beat Onyeka's Brentford

Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi produced a match-winning performance on Saturday, scoring and providing an assist within 98 seconds to inspire Fulham to a 3-1 comeback victory over Brentford at Craven Cottage.

Brentford had drawn first blood in the 20th minute when Mikkel Damsgaard fired home.

But Iwobi quickly turned the tide for the Cottagers, smashing in a loose ball after Brentford captain Nathan Collins failed to clear Saša Lukić’s deflected effort in the 38th minute.

Less than two minutes later, the Nigerian midfielder turned provider, laying off a neat pass for Harry Wilson, who curled a superb low effort into the bottom corner to put Fulham ahead.

The 29-year-old’s goal and assist increased his tally to three direct contributions in five league matches this season, underlining his continued influence since joining from Everton in 2023.

Iwobi enjoyed his most productive campaign last term with nine goals and six assists in 38 appearances, nearly firing Fulham into Europe.

As the season unfolds, Iwobi will be central to Fulham’s push for continental football or domestic silverware.

Meanwhile, his compatriots Frank Onyeka and Samuel Chukwueze watched from the bench as unused substitutes.
