Nigerian midfielder confirms Charlton Athletic departure ahead of move to Arsenal Academy
Published: September 22, 2025
Talented midfielder of Nigerian descent Mishel Nduka has taken to social media to announce his departure from Charlton Athletic.
Although Nduka has not revealed his next destination, it has been widely reported that he is heading to Arsenal's Hale End Academy, where he will continue his development.
The Gunners have pulled off a major transfer coup with the capture of the promising teenager, beating off competition from Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
By signing schoolboy terms, Nduka becomes eligible to feature for Arsenal U16 and U18 teams, while working towards securing a scholarship deal upon turning 16.
His long-term ambition will be to earn a professional contract in the coming years, following in the footsteps of several academy graduates of Nigerian descent who have progressed into the Gunners first team squad, including Alex Iwobi, Chuba Akpom, Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka.
Writing on Instagram, Nduka said: "After 8 years at Charlton Athletic FC, my time with the club has come to an end.
"A huge thank you to my family and the staff at charlton who have guided me along my journey.
"Charlton will always have a special place in my heart. On to the next chapter."
Nduka was widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in his age group during his time at Charlton Athletic, making his U18 debut last season when he came off the bench in the closing stages of a 2-1 defeat to Watford.
