The former giant striker was many years a player on the football pitch in England. He made three appearances and played for clubs like Leeds, West Ham, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Benfica.
Brian Deane visited Fredrikstad later than last year in connection with a football school for youngsters. If so parties came in contact is uncertain.
Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad writes that the Englishman after football career has worked to build up football academies, and has thus been developing promising young players.
Director Sport Committee of Sarpsborg,Bjørge øiestad, is tight-lipped about the coach hunt.
''The fact is that athletic committees have nominated two coaches to our board. We have weighted the two, and recommended one candidate.
''It would be completely wrong of me to comment on the names at this stage, but within a few days, I expect that the agreement has been concluded, '' said øiestad to the newspaper.
