'They'll decide' - Venezia coach reveals Akor Adams' position in penalty-taking hierarchy

Venezia coach Giovanni Stroppa has revealed Akor Adams' position in the club's penalty-taking hierarchy following the controversy surrounding John Yeboah's missed spot-kick against Lazio.

During Venezia's 2–0 defeat to Lazio before the international break, Adams picked up the ball to take a 17th-minute penalty.

However, Stroppa intervened from the touchline and instructed Yeboah to take the kick instead.

The Ecuador international's effort was saved by Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas, leaving Adams visibly frustrated.

Speaking ahead of Venezia's clash with Atalanta, Stroppa explained the original order and suggested that responsibilities could change following the incident.

"The hierarchy would have been Busio, followed by Yeboah and Akor Adams," Stroppa was quoted as saying by Tutto Venezia Sport.

"Now, with Akor and John—who you saw scored from a penalty for the national team, even though I would have preferred the reverse with the one he took against Lazio (smiles), they'll decide on the pitch, or at least we'll decide before the match, given what the precedent has brought."

Akor Adams boasts a flawless penalty record for Nigeria, having successfully converted his attempts against Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

His club record tells a different story, with the Super Eagles forward scoring six penalties and missing three during his spell in Norway.
