Nigerian Van Persie, Gabriel Okechukwu To Test With KV Mechelen
Published: April 30, 2014
Belgian club KV Mechelen have already started preparations for the opening of the transfer window.
To that end, the decision makers have beamed their searchlight on Gabriel Okechukwu, who is hailed as the Nigerian Van Persie in his homeland.
Het Nieuwsblad says the 19 - year - old TEAP striker has been invited to train with KV Mechelen with a view of bagging a contract if he impresses manager Frank Vercauteren.
Gabriel Okechukwu , regarded as one of the top talents in Nigeria, had earlier been linked with Eastern European clubs including Zenith St Petersburg, Kuban and Dynamo Kiev.
Around this time last year, another Nigerian striker Abdulwaheed Afolabi trained with Mechelen but he failed to agree terms with the club.
