Super Eagles Assistant Captain Eddy Onazi Out For At Least Two Weeks
Published: April 12, 2018
Trabzonspor midfielder Eddy Onazi will be out of action for at least two weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in his team's 4-0 win over Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig last weekend.
The Nigeria international had to make way for Demirok in the 28th minute and left the Medical Park Stadyumu (Trabzon) turf clearly in discomfort.
The injury will see Onazi miss Monday's league game at Osmanlıspor and he'll be racing against the clock to be fit for the following game against Sivasspor on April 21.
The Super Eagles assistant captain can only play a maximum of five games before reporting for Nigeria's get-together ahead of the 2018 World Cup as Trabzonspor have been knocked out of the Turkish Cup.
This season, Onazi has started only half of Trabzonspor's matches in the Super Lig- 14 from a possible 28 - due to fitness concerns.
The 25-year-old started Nigeria's four matches at the 2014 World Cup but had to be substituted in a last sixteen clash against France after suffering a serious ankle injury from Blaise Matuidi's tackle.
