The Meteoric Rise Of Chukwueze: Villarreal Super Kid Receives Eagles Call-Up He Didn't Expect
Published: October 30, 2018Samuel Chukwueze, 19, is in line to make his international debut for the Super Eagles on November 17.
The teenage winger was among the surprise names included on the roster for next month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa and international friendly against Uganda.
Regarded as one of the most exciting young Nigerian wingers in recent years, Chukwueze was rewarded with a place in the Super Eagles squad after making only three appearances for Villarreal in this season's Europa League.
The Diamond Academy product was one of the stars of the Golden Eaglets squad that won the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup and was promoted to the Flying Eagles few months after the tournament in Chile.
He had been expected to be integrated into the Dream Team VII squad ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games but manager Gernot Rohr has seen his potential and is set to fast-track him into the senior setup.
Although left-footed, Chukwueze plays best as a right winger, he's excellent in one on one situations, pacy, capable of creating goal-scoring chances and possesses good shooting skills.
A brace from Chukwueze helped Villarreal B to defeat Atlético Baleares 2-1 in his latest match for the Spanish outfit on Sunday.
