2019-20 Chelsea POTY Awards : Tomori Beats Anjorin, 9 Others To Goal Of The Season
Published: August 25, 2020Fikayo Tomori has beaten Nigeria-eligible midfielder Faustino Anjorin and nine other players to Chelsea Goal of the Season award for the 2019-2020 campaign, The Blues have informed via their official website.
The England U19 international was nominated for the yearly accolade along with Tomori, Mason Mount, Lewis Bate, Willian, Sophie Ingle, N'Golo Kante, Olivier Giroud, Ross Barkley, Bethany England and Christian Pulisic, who was double nominated for his goals against Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
Anjorin's stunning effort vs Leicester City in the Premier League 2 had been in the running for the award, but Tomori's first-time shot from long range against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been voted the Goal of the Season by Chelsea fans.
The Anglo-Nigerian midfielder tallied 11 goals in all competitions for Chelsea's youth teams
last term, was their top scorer in the Premier League 2 and captained
the FA Youth Cup side.
He committed his long-term future to Chelsea in June with the signing of a new five-year contract following his senior breakthrough that saw him play twice for the first team last season.
Anjorin first trained with Chelsea Academy at the age of six before officially signing for the club at U9 level.
