First Squad Involvement For Ideho As Arsenal Lose To Liverpool In Premier League 2
Published: October 31, 2020Dutch-born winger of Nigerian descent Joel Ideho has been given the all-clear to represent Arsenal following the receipt of his international clearance, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Ideho is one of the outstanding signings made by the Gunners to bolster their youth teams after several promising youngsters were sent out on loan including Tolaji Bola and James Olayinka.
Four days after his first training session with Arsenal youth teams, Ideho was named in the matchday squad for the Premier League 2 fixture against Liverpool at Meadow Park on Friday night - the first squad involvement for the 17-year-old.
The former Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid was a non-playing substitute against The Reds.
Manager Steve Bould handed starts to Folarin Balogun, fresh from making his competitive debut for Arsenal's first team, midfielders Miguel Azeez and Tim Akinola, with the trio putting in a full shift.
Arsenal U23s are still without a win in the new season after seven matches following their 1-0 loss to Liverpool, Tim Clayton with the game-winning goal from outside the box in the 29th minute.
The Emirates Stadium outfit are bottom of the table with two points before their trip to Blackburn Rovers next Friday.
