EFL Young Player Of The Month : Reading's Olise Follows In The Footsteps Of Moses, Osayi-Samuel
Published: January 16, 2021Nigerian attacking midfielder Michael Olise has been named December's English Football League Young Player of the Month, informs the official website of the EFL.
The 19-year-old was in brilliant form for Reading last month, scoring two goals and setting up two others.
With the exception of the 2-1 home win vs Luton Town, he was involved in all the matches contested by Reading in the Championship in December, making starts against Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Brentford and Swansea City while coming off the bench against Queens Park Rangers.
Upon receiving the award, Olise said : "It’s very good for me. I feel like I’m in good form at the moment.
"It’s definitely been a good first-half of the season for us.
"We’ve just been doing what the manager wants us to do and we’ve been playing well so it’s a good position to be in.

"The new manager has been great for us, he’s bought in new ideas and we’ve always thought with our squad that we’ve got the quality to be up there in the Championship. I think we’re showing that so far this season."
Olise follows in the footsteps of Victor Moses, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Odubajo, Dominic Iorfa, Hakeeb Adelakun and Josh Maja who previously won the EFL Young Player of the Month award.
