Nigeria target Olise named in Championship TOTW after starring for Reading vs Forest
Published: March 15, 2021Reading midfielder Michael Olise's reputation continues to grow after he was named in the latest EFL Championship Team of the Week powered by Whoscored.com.
Last week, the highly-rated teenager was placed on standby for the Super Eagles' Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho, and his transfer market value increased to 12 million euros - his highest market value to date.
Olise has been selected among the ceremonial best XI players in the second-tier of English football on the back of his imperious display in Reading's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on March 13.
In a 3-5-2 formation, the former France U18 international is one of three central midfielders picked, along with fellow Chelsea academy products Kasey Palmer and Nathaniel Chalobah.
Only former Flying Eagles winger Sammy Ameobi (6) and Lucas Joao (5) played more shots than Olise (4) during Saturday's meeting at the City Ground.
The Anglo-French-Nigerian starlet was the stat leader for key passes (4), completed three take-ons, won three fouls, made a team-high three tackles and was accurate in 80.8 percent of his passes.
In 34 outings in the Championship, Olise has scored five goals and provided nine assists while logging 2,502 minutes.
