Ex-Nigeria U23 winger provides assist as Dinamo Zagreb send Tottenham out of Europa League
Published: March 18, 2021Former Nigeria U23 international Iyayi Believe Atiemwen helped Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb pull off a shock 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur to advance to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
The 25-year-old came off the bench to replace Kristijan Jakić with fifteen minutes left on the clock and the home side desperately looking for a goal that would level the tie on aggregate.
Less than eight minutes after the introduction of Atiemwen, he provided the assist for Mislav Orsic to score his second goal of the game.
The Croatia international finished off a brilliant team move when he slammed the ball into the top corner from eight meters after the Nigerian winger rolled the ball into his path, taking the game into extra time.
Orsic sealed Dinamo Zagreb's progression to the last eight when he ran through the Spurs defence and fired past goalkeeper Lloris from outside the area in the 106th minute.
Livaković made an incredible save to deny Harry Kane from scoring a crucial away goal in the 116th minute.
A product of Bendel Insuarance, Atiemwen has played six games in this season's Europa League, scoring two goals and has registered an assist.
