Europa League : Slavia Prague star Olayinka reacts after scoring against Rangers
Published: March 19, 2021Peter Olayinka was delighted to get on the scoresheet as Slavia Prague moved into the quarterfinals of the Europa League with a 2-0 win over Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.
Fourteen minutes into the contest, the Nigeria international opened the scoring with a header on the near post after a lovely ball in whipped in from the left hand side by Jan Bořil.
Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor got a hand to Olayinka's powerful header but was unable to prevent it from going into the net.
Slavia Prague coach Jindřich Trpišovský made a big call to name Olayinka in the starting lineup as he had been rated as doubtful following the injury he suffered in the first leg and his gamble paid off with the number 9 scoring a crucial away goal before limping off the pitch before the hour mark.
In quotes relayed by Slavia Prague's official Twitter account after the game, their number 9 said : "I hope my goal will motivate everyone. It will give us a lot of energy for the next games."
Olayinka has been in brilliant form in the Europa League with two goals and three assists from nine appearances.
