Everton's Iwobi, Rangers duo Aribo and Balogun among 18 players in camp pre-Benin Republic
Published: March 23, 2021As at 2206 hours on Monday, March 22, eighteen of the twenty-four players invited for the Super Eagles' fixtures this month have reported for international duty.
Of the nineteen players Gernot Rohr was expecting in camp by the close of business today, only Victor Osimhen has not been spotted at the Eko Hotels & Suites.
It means British-based trio Alex Iwobi (Everton), Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo (both Glasgow Rangers) are now in camp.
Enyimba duo John Noble and Anayo Iwuala headed straight to Victoria Island from Agege, after helping the People's Elephant register a 1-0 road win vs Sunshine Stars in a Nigeria Professional Football League match on Monday evening, with both named in the starting lineup.
The seven other players called up now in camp are Paul Onuachu, Abdullahi Shehu, Chidozie Awaziem, Adeleke Adekunle, Tyronne Ebuehi, Maduka Okoye and Jamilu Collins.
Having held a recovery session yesterday, the Super Eagles will swap the gym for the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday, March 23.
Zaidu Sanusi, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Francis Uzoho and Osimhen are the six players still being expected.
Three-time African champions Nigeria will take on neighbors Republic of Benin at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo on March 27.
