Racing Genk star Onuachu tells Super Eagles teammates the type of striker he is
Racing Genk star Paul Onuachu reported for international duty in red-hot form with an impressive 27 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions.

The former FC Midtjylland man has seemingly lost the trust of manager Gernot Rohr as he was only handed a late invitation after Nantes winger Moses Simon was forced to withdraw from the Nigeria squad over coronavirus restrictions.

A penalty-box predator with excellent aerial ability, Onuachu has not scored for the Super Eagles since March 26, 2019, and it has been argued that he is not playing to his true potential because of Rohr's tactics and not receiving the required service from his teammates.

Speaking after Tuesday's training session, Onuachu told allnigeriasoccer.com : "That's how it is in football, sometimes you have the opportunity to score, sometimes it doesn't come.

"For me, I am my own type of striker, I'm not the one that runs deep, want to displace a lot, I'm more of a box striker.

"As a striker you always need to score whenever you are being called upon, when I have the chance to play I'll have it in the back of my head to score one. If it doesn't come will keep working hard for the next one".

Onuachu is battling Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho and Napoli's Victor Osimhen for a spot in attack against the Republic of Benin.
