'Always an honour to play in Nigeria' - Dutch-born Twente fullback Ebuehi ahead of AFCONQ vs Lesotho
Published: March 25, 2021The prospect of the Super Eagles playing their last Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Lesotho in front of the fans at the Teslim Balogun Stadium is something FC Twente fullback Tyronne Ebuehi is eagerly looking forward to.
Tipped to break into the Super Eagles starting lineup after the 2018 World Cup, the Haarlem-born defender has seen injuries limit him to just one appearance after the tournament in Russia and it came in a friendly with African champions Algeria last October.
Ebuehi has started 26 of the twenty-seven matches played by Twente in this season's Eredivisie, proving that his injury problems are well and truly over.
"It's always great and an honour to play in Nigeria and it's different than in Europe of course but unfortunately I don't think with the COVID-19 rules not everybody can be there in the stadium," Ebuehi told News Central TV.
"But of course you feel the love and the support from everyone here when you arrive, so that's always nice."

Of his eight international caps for the Super Eagles, Ebuehi played all but one of those games in Europe.
