Iheanacho's brilliant volley, assisted by Ndidi nominated for Premier League Goal of the Month
Published: March 26, 2021Kelechi Iheanacho has been double nominated for Premier League awards this month as he is also in the running for the Goal of the Month award in the division, informs the official website of the English Premier League.
As expected, the Leicester City striker's brilliant volley in the 1-1 draw versus Burnley at Turf Moor has been picked among the top eight most eye-catching goals scored in March 2021.
Eleven minutes before the interval, Iheanacho put the Foxes back on level terms with a fine finish, sending a
superb first-time volley into the net after Ndidi lofted a ball over
the Burnley defence.
His phenomenal goal against the Clarets has been praised by fans and pundit alike, including Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker.
Iheanacho's rivals for the Goal of the Month prize are Mason Mount (Chelsea), Che Adams (Southampton), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Dwight McNeil (Burnley), Erik Lamela (Tottenham), Leandro Trossard (Brighton & Hove) and Jesse Lingard (West Ham).
Chelsea academy product Ola Aina is the first and only first player with a Nigerian passport to win the prestigious accolade since the award was introduced for the 2016-2017 season.
