Super Eagles players to hold team walk at 1100 hours; why they trained under partial darkness
Published: March 27, 2021Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Super Eagles are set to start their final preparations before taking to the pitch for a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Republic of Benin.
Based on their schedule for Saturday, the Super Eagle's team walk is scheduled to start in the premises of the Golden Tulip Le Diplomat Hotel in Cotonou at 1100 hours.
The team walk is a ritual during match days and helps the squad to bond before stepping out onto the pitch.
Manager Gernot Rohr is expected to announce his starting lineup for the match against the Squirrels after the team walk.
Meanwhile, more details have emerged on why the Super Eagles trained under partial darkness in their final workout at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo.
It has come to light that the authorities refused to switch on the floodlights at the stadium because the team arrived late for the training due to logistical reasons, after their boat trip from Lagos.
Though the Benin national team were not using the facility, the Federation did not extend courtesies to the Nigeria squad.
The Super Eagles players trained under the full moon for roughly one hour before returning to their hotel in Cotonou.
