Arsenal Academy top ten goals 2022 : Three Flying Eagles-eligible players make the cut
Published: December 25, 2022
Arsenal Academy have chosen their top ten goals for 2022, with three Flying Eagles-eligible players making the cut.
Goals from winger Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri and Joel Ideho have been selected in no particular order.
Butler-Oyedeji and Nwaneri, who both traveled with the first team to United Arab Emirates for the Dubai Super Cup, were selected for their goals against Cambridge United and Manchester United U18s respectively.
Known for scoring spectacular goals, Dutch-Nigerian winger Ideho's effort versus Burnley in a Premier League Cup match made the grade.
The other seven academy stars who scored eye-catching goals for the academy sides in 2022 are Bradley Ibrahim, Omari Benjamin, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Osman Kamara, Ismail Oulad M'Hand, Charles Sagoe Jr and Catalin Cirjan.
Of the aforementioned players of Nigerian descent, only Nwaneri has been named in a matchday squad for an official match played by Arsenal's first team.
Nwaneri's name went into the record books when he came on as a substitute for Fabio Vieira in the 90th minute of Arsenal's 3-0 win at Brentford back in September, becoming the youngest player in Premier League history in the process.
Butler-Oyedeji has trained with the first team for most part of this month ahead of a potential debut.
