Chelsea-bound striker Fofana speaks on relationship with his Nigerian agent
Published: December 27, 2022Ivory Coast international David Datro Fofana is set to complete his move to Chelsea in the coming days.
The 20-year-old, one of Africa's most promising young talents, has already passed a medical with the Stamford Bridge outfit, paving the way for him to sign a multi-year contract with the Premier League giants.
Fofana earned himself a transfer to Chelsea following a number of impressive performances at Molde, helping them with the Eliteserien and Norwegian Cup in his second season with the club.
In 27 appearances in league and cup, he directly participated in 23 goals (17 goals, 6 assists) and had four goals to his name in the Europa Conference League including the qualifiers.
The deal taking Fofana to Chelsea was brokered by one of the most powerful Nigerian agents, Atta Aneke, who is based in Oslo.
Fofana was heavily courted by Belgian and French clubs but Aneke convinced him to begin his career abroad with Molde, which has paid off in a big way.
Reacting to speculation surrounding his future, Fofana said to Nettavisen : "My agent takes care of those things. He (Atta) is like family to me and we are in contact all the time. We talk often."
Aneke brought Nigeria internationals Odion Ighalo, Fegor Ogude, Nosa Igiebor, Anthony Ujah and Chidera Ejuke to Norway before the players signed for bigger clubs.
