SJK coach reveals what impressed him about Ejeheri after Arsenal loanee's debut in friendly
Published: January 22, 2023Two days after his signing was confirmed by SJK Seinajoki on loan for the next six months, Arsenal-owned goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri made his debut in a friendly against Estonian Cup champions Paide Linnameeskond on Saturday, January 21.
The Flying Eagles invitee was introduced off the bench for the start of the second half with the Estonian side leading 2-0 thanks to a brace from Robi Saarma.
SJK lost the game in the first half after conceding twice through some defensive lapses and the goalkeeper Markus Uusitalo couldn't prevent the goals from going in.
Ejeheri was literally on holiday after the interval as he was not kept busy by the Paide Linnameeskond attackers.
SJK Seinajoki head coach Joaquin Gómez was left impressed by Ejeheri's willingness to help his team savage a draw and underlined that the goalkeeper has quickly adapted to his new teammates.
"Ovie Ejeheri had a slightly different debut because he had no worse work to do in the match. But I hope that he won't have many of them in the future," he told SJK's official website.
"In any case, he was involved high up building the game, and was even at the end to score when he got involved in the corner kick.
"However, it was great to see him on the field right away, and it's been great how quickly he has adapted to his new teammates."
Ejeheri spent the first half of the season at National League South club Chelmsford City, where he made 25 appearances in all competitions.
