Chelsea provide injury update on Chukwuemeka ahead of Arsenal clash
Published: October 20, 2023
English Premier League club Chelsea have provided an injury update on Carney Chukwuemeka ahead of Saturday's London derby with Arsenal.
Chukwuemeka has not figured for the Blues since he suffered an injury on matchday two against West Ham United.
The England underage international of Nigerian descent netted his first senior goal in Chelsea's 3-1 loss to the Hammers but his joy turned to pain when he suffered an injury to his left knee in the closing minutes of the first half.
Having returned to full training before the international break, Chukwuemeka has suffered a setback in his bid to return from the injury which required surgery.
Through their official website, Chelsea issued an update on the fitness of seven players before their blockbuster match with Arsenal.
On Chukwuemeka, the Blues stated on Friday: "Underwent assessment this week and continuing rehabilitation".
Chukwuemeka has not been involved in the last eight games contested by Chelsea consisting of six in the Premier League and two in the League Cup.
His injury came at the wrong time as he was certainly pushing for a spot in Chelsea's starting lineup, having started their first two games in the Premier League.
