Boubakary Soumare's potential replacement: Sevilla eye Super Eagles midfielder Ndidi
Published: March 10, 2024La Liga side Sevilla are reportedly combing the market for a central midfielder to potentially replace Boubakary Soumaré and Wilfred Ndidi has emerged as a top candidate.
The former France U21 international transferred to Sevilla last September following Leicester City's relegation to the Championship, with Los Rojiblancos including an option to make the move a permanent one.
Soumaré has impressed at his loan club, starting 20 games in all competitions including four in the UEFA Champions League.
According to Vamos mi Sevilla, the reality is that the 15 million euros purchase option is out of reach for a club aiming to cut 100 million euros in expenses.
Sevilla want to sign Ndidi and are aware that they need to act swiftly, considering that the midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and other clubs are interested in his signature.
Víctor Orta, sporting director of Sevilla, has been actively working on a deal to sign Ndidi, who has played nonstop at Leicester City since January 2017.
It is claimed that the Nath Boys product is not interested in extending his contract at Leicester City, whom he joined from Racing Genk.
Ndidi has played in 263 matches for the Foxes, which includes appearances in the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League and Premier League.
