Four players of Nigerian descent including Arsenal striker named in Denmark squads
Published: March 13, 2024The Danish Football Association have announced the rosters for the country's youth teams ahead of international matches in March 2024 with four players of Nigerian descent set to add to their caps at youth level, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Arsenal striker Chidozie Obi-Martin is among the twenty-one teenagers selected for the U17 team.
Denmark U17s will be competing in the elite round of the 2024 European U17 Championship qualifiers which will decide whether they will make it to next year's tournament in Cyprus.
The young Danes will bo battle with Turkey, Serbia and Georgia in the group 6 of the U17 Euro qualifiers.
Obi has been in fine goalscoring form for Denmark U17s since making his debut for the age group, registering 9 goals in eleven appearances.
Meanwhile, Denmark U21 national coach Steffen Højer named three Super Eagles-eligible players in his squad list for the upcoming friendly against Austria (March 22) and the European Championship qualifier with Lithuania (March 26).
Sheffield United forward William Osula is joined on the roster by Lyngby midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.
The aforementioned U21 players have top-flight experience, with Osula making eighteen appearances in the English Premier League while Dorgu and Chukwuani have 22 and 77 games respectively under their belts in the Italian Serie A and Danish Superliga.
