The truth about reports linking Super Eagles invitee Igoh Ogbu with summer transfer to Besiktas
Published: May 26, 2025
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Super Eagles invitee for the internationals in May and June, Igoh Ogbu will not be joining Turkish giants Besiktas in the summer transfer window.
It was claimed that Besiktas have started making efforts to sign the Slavia Prague central defender, who put himself in the shop window after a breakout season at Czech champions Slavia Prague.
This website can reveal that the reports linking Ogbu with a possible switch to Besiktas are unfounded.
Although his camp has close ties with BJK head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there have been no talks whatsoever regarding a transfer and none are planned for this summer.
The connection stems from the fact that Ogbu is represented by the same agent who facilitated Odion Ighalo's move to Manchester United under Solskjaer in 2020.
Ogbu committed his future to Slavia Prague over the weekend by signing a new contract that runs until December 2027, effectively ending any immediate uncertainty about his next move.
He attracted interest from multiple French Ligue 1 clubs before extending his stay at the capital club.
Ogbu originally joined Slavia Prague from Norwegian side Lillestrom in January 2023, in a deal worth €2.5 million, with the fee potentially rising to €3 million based on performance-related bonuses.
With Fulham defender Calvin Bassey absent from Nigeria's squad for the Unity Cup and the friendly against Russia, Ogbu is likely to make his senior debut for the Super Eagles in the coming days.
