Prolific striker Roman Ferber has earned his first call-up to the Madagascar national team ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria and Tanzania,
Born in Belgium, Ferber is now eligible to represent Madagascar after successfully obtaining citizenship through his marriage to a Malagasy woman, according to Foot News Belgium.
Madagascar coach Corentin Martins unveiled his squad on Thursday for the opening two matchdays of the 2027 Afcon qualifiers, with Ferber and goalkeeper Zacharie Boucher among the notable new additions.
Ferber, 33, has been rewarded for his impressive goalscoring form with Luxembourg club Atert Bissen.
He finished last season as the BGL Ligue top scorer after netting 21 goals in 22 matches, and also registered 2 goals and two assist in two Cup games.
He has continued that form into the 2026-27 campaign, scoring 10 goals in 12 appearances, taking his tally to 33 goals in 36 games across the two seasons.
Before moving to Luxembourg, Feber represented Belgian clubs, including RAEC Mons, Sporting Charleroi, Excel Mouscron, Francs Borains, Mandel United, Patro Eisden and Olympic Charleroi
Madagascar face the Super Eagles on September 25 in Uyo before hosting Tanzania four days later.
