Former St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson has hailed former Nigeria U17 forward Ibrahim Said after the winger scored the winning goal in Motherwell’s 2-1 victory over Hibernian in their opening Scottish Premiership fixture of the season.
The 24-year-old Nigerian produced the decisive moment at Easter Road, finishing off a flowing team move in the 85th minute to hand Motherwell all three points after Lukas Fadinger and Hibernian captain Martin Boyle had earlier exchanged penalties.
The goal sealed a winning start to the 2026/27 league campaign for Motherwell.
Reacting to Said’s display on BBC Sportsound, Davidson was full of praise for the former Golden Eaglets star, highlighting the qualities that make him such an exciting player to watch.
Speaking after the match, Davidson said: "Ibrahim Said is a great player to watch, isn't he?"
The former St Johnstone boss went on to explain what stood out most about the Nigerian winger's performance.
"He bounces off people, pops it through their legs, he'll chop past them and he links play," he added.
Davidson also backed Said to become one of Motherwell's key players if he continues to perform at the same level.
"If he keeps these levels up, he becomes a star and the manager has to play him," he revealed.
Said joined Motherwell from Danish side Viborg in 2025 after making his name with Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, where he scored a hat-trick against Ecuador.
Motherwell's victory gave the club an ideal start to the new campaign, while Said's performance ensured he was among the standout players from the opening round of Scottish Premiership fixtures.
