Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler has provided an update on Super Eagles star Femi Azeez ahead of Saturday's meeting with Premier League champions Arsenal.
The winger continues his recovery from an injury that has delayed the start of his career with the Premier League club.
Azeez is yet to make his Brighton debut after the injury he suffered during the early stages of the new season.
The setback has kept the winger away from first-team action as he works on regaining his fitness and adapting to his new surroundings.
Hurzeler explained during a pre-match press conference on Friday that Brighton's immediate priority is to ensure Azeez reaches his best physical condition before gradually integrating him into the squad.
“I think that the best for Femi is, like what I just mentioned, that he uses exactly this period to get back to his highest physical level and then get used to our style of play. Then we will try to work with him individually and then hopefully integrate him back into the team.”
The Brighton boss is also hopeful that the 25-year-old will be ready to feature in matches once the international break is over.
“Definitely, after the international break, he will be at a top level and then we can use him in games. So that's the plan. Hopefully, it will come like this, but, yeah, let's see.”
Azeez's injury has also affected his international commitments with Nigeria.
The winger was omitted from the Super Eagles squad for the opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures and the international friendly against Russia as he continues his recovery.
