Kevin Akpoguma is the latest Super Eagles player to secure a move to a newly promoted club in one of Europe's top five leagues, becoming the fourth Nigeria international to do so this summer.
Serie A new boys Frosinone Calcio have confirmed the signing of Akpoguma, with the central defender joining as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with TSG Hoffenheim, where he spent thirteen years.
The centre-back put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Frosinone, valid until June 30, 2028.
Akpoguma follows in the footsteps of forward Akor Adams and midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, who have completed moves to Serie A newcomers Venezia and Monza respectively.
The trend dates back to the opening of the summer transfer window when newly-promoted Coventry City exercised their obligation to make Frank Onyeka's move from Brentford permanent following their promotion to the Premier League.
Akpoguma's move to Frosinone marks the first time the Neustadt an der Weinstraße native has played outside Germany in his professional career.
In addition to Hoffenheim, the 31-year-old previously wore the colours of Rot-Weiß Speyer, Schwarz-Weiß Speyer, FC Bavaria Wörth, FC Neureut 08, Karlsruher SC, Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover 96.
