Fatih Terim has highlighted the qualities that make Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen such a difficult opponent, describing the Nigerian as one of the best strikers in world football.
Terim, who previously managed Galatasaray, was full of praise for Osimhen’s finishing ability, physical presence and capacity to punish defensive mistakes.
Speaking about the 27-year-old forward, Terim explained why defenders can struggle when facing him in individual situations.
“Osimhen is an extraordinary striker, among the best in the world. As long as he stays focused on the game, it's really difficult to go one-on-one with him,” Terim said, as quoted by 24saatgazetesi.
“He can score goals even when it's not on his mind, even when there's no scoring opportunity. He's a striker who earns his own living the hard way.”
Terim also stressed Osimhen’s ability to take advantage of even the smallest defensive error, while identifying one area the striker needs to manage.
“He punishes you immediately if you make the slightest mistake as an opponent; he's a completely different kind of player. He just needs to avoid getting unnecessarily angry or stressed,” he added.
Osimhen has provided strong evidence of his goalscoring quality with his impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign before suffering a groin injury.
The Galatasaray forward had scored six goals and registered two assists in four appearances for the Turkish giants before being sidelined.
Despite the setback, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle included Osimhen in Nigeria’s 24-man squad for the opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
