The Nigeria Football Federation have been handed a boost in their pursuit of two dual-national players, with Rangers midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and Newcastle United forward William Osula left out of Denmark's latest squad, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Manager Brian Riemer on Tuesday announced a 24-man squad for Denmark's upcoming four UEFA Nations League fixtures, with the two 23-year-olds missing from the roster.
Denmark will open their campaign against Norway in Oslo on September 24, before hosting Wales and Portugal at Parken on September 27 and October 1 respectively, and concluding with a return fixture against Wales in Cardiff on October 4.
It had been reported that the Nigerian Football Federation approached Osula in an attempt to convince him to switch his international allegiance from Denmark to the Super Eagles.
After being named on the bench in four matches without making an appearance, Osula made his senior debut for Denmark in a friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo on June 3 and earned his second cap against Ukraine four days later.
The Copenhagen native has been omitted from Denmark's squad as he continues to recover from a foot injury and is not expected to be fully fit until after the international break.
Had the attacker been called up for the upcoming internationals and featured in any of them, he would have become cap-tied to Denmark and no longer eligible to represent the Super Eagles.
Chukwuani has yet to make the step up to Denmark's senior squad after previously earning caps for the U16, U17, U19, U20 and U21 teams.
This season, he has struggled to break into Rangers' starting lineup, making just four starts from a possible 12 appearances in all competitions.
