English National League side Boreham Wood have reportedly rejected a £1 million (approximately N1.8 billion in Nigerian currency) bid from Swedish club Djurgårdens IF for Nigerian-eligible forward Abdul Abdulmalik in the current summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports UK.
Abdulmalik enjoyed an impressive campaign with Boreham Wood last season, emerging as one of the standout performers in the National League.
The 23-year-old registered 17 goals and 10 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions, playing a key role in the club's impressive campaign.
His outstanding performances were recognised at the end of the season when he was named the National League Young Player of the Season.
Djurgårdens have identified the Nigerian attacker as a priority target and have made several attempts to secure his signature this summer.
The Swedish club initially submitted an offer worth £750,000 before returning with an improved bid of £1 million in an effort to convince Boreham Wood to sanction the transfer.
However, the English club have rejected both proposals, with reports suggesting they value the highly-rated forward significantly higher than the offers received so far.
With the transfer window still open, Djurgårdens are expected to return with another improved proposal as they continue their pursuit of the Nigerian forward.
For Abdulmalik, a move to the Swedish top flight would represent another important step in his career, offering him the opportunity to continue his development and test himself at a higher level of European football.
