In a statement on their official website, Crystal Palace have announced that young Nigerian defender Dotun Lamidi has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Lamidi has put pen to paper on a new deal two months before his eighteenth birthday.
Born on October 17, 2008, the talented teenager joined Crystal Palace from Watford last summer, signing a scholarship deal with the south London club.
He has been described by Crystal Palace's official web[age as a 'dynamic left-sided player who can operate as both a winger and wide defender'.
In his maiden season with the Eagles, Lamidi made 16 appearances and registered an assist for Javier Alonso's history-making U18s.
He was part of the Palace side that reached the FA Youth Cup semifinals and secured the club's first-ever U18 Premier League Cup.
Commenting on his new deal, Lamidi said: "I feel delighted. This is a new step for me, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. I'm not going to take it for granted – I'll keep working hard every day.
"This is something that doesn't happen to many players, so the fact it's happened to me makes me incredibly happy."
Lamidi was named in Crystal Palace U21s matchday squad for the Premier League 2 clash away at Nottingham Forest towards the end of last season.
